1–MINUTE READ
The Story of Now
The BBC had commissioned Touchcast to produce their first interactive TV series and had secured a superstar, Idris Elba, to present it. Paul Field, the head of Touchcast UK, needed a lead writer with interactive and journalism experience to interview some of the world’s leading thinkers, script episodes and help oversee the direction of what became The Story of Now.
What I did
I worked directly with Yuval Harari, Naomi Klein, economist Soumaya Keynes, and the extraordinary, blind artist Saargy Mann to distil their lifetime of knowledge into 5-minute, expandable interactive content on the story of human evolution, the environment, money and art.
What else?
With the ability to understand and translate diverse, complex subjects into short stories that anyone could engage with, I helped some of the pre-eminent thinkers in their fields communicate deep insights in a format that was completely new to them.
The difference
The Story of Now led to the adoption of interactive video technology across the BBC, and helped sell the platform to corporations from Unilever to Accenture.
Touchcast meanwhile, has grown from a startup interactive video platform into a $350 million company.
